Kappa Is More Than Four Years: Finding Sisterhood Again in Columbus

There was a time when Kappa was simply part of your everyday life.

Your sisters were down the hall, across campus, sitting beside you at chapter meetings, studying with you, celebrating with you, and walking through some of the biggest moments of your college years alongside you.

Then graduation happened.

Careers began. Moves happened. Families grew. Life got busy.

For some of us, Kappa remained a regular part of life. For others, years or even decades may have passed since we attended a Kappa event.

But here's the wonderful thing about sisterhood:

You can always come back.

Kappa Looks Different After College

Being a Kappa alumna doesn't mean trying to recreate our college years. We're different women now, with careers, families, responsibilities, experiences, and stories we couldn't have imagined when we first wore our keys.

But many of the things that drew us to Kappa in the first place still matter.

Friendship.

Connection.

Tradition.

Service.

Belonging.

And maybe simply spending a couple of hours with women who share a piece of your history, even if you attended different universities decades apart.

That's what the Columbus Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma hopes to create here in Central Ohio.

There Is More Than One Way to Be Involved

We know everyone's life looks different, so being an involved alumna shouldn't mean adding another obligation to an already full calendar.

Come when you can.

Join us for a Kappa Konnections Happy Hour after work. Celebrate our shared history and traditions at Founders Day. Attend a holiday gathering. Volunteer alongside other Kappas during one of our philanthropy or service opportunities.

Maybe you'll come to one event this year.

Maybe you'll come to ten.

Both count.

Our goal is to create different opportunities throughout the year so Kappas of all ages and stages of life can find something that feels right for them.

One of the best things about Kappa is that our sisterhood travels with us.

You may have been initiated hundreds or thousands of miles from Ohio, but if Central Ohio is home now, you already have something in common with Kappas throughout our community.

The Columbus Alumnae Association brings together women from different chapters, universities, generations, professions, neighborhoods, and life experiences.

You don't need to arrive knowing someone.

You already have a connection. You're a Kappa.

Sisterhood Can Still Make a Difference

Our association isn't only about social events.

We also believe in putting our sisterhood to work in the community.

Throughout the year, we support local organizations serving women of all ages through our time, financial contributions, and donated items.

Service gives us another reason to come together while doing something meaningful for the community we call home.

Your Kappa Story Isn't Finished

Maybe you still have your badge tucked safely away.

Maybe there's a box somewhere filled with composites, photographs, T-shirts, Bid Day treasures, or little things that wouldn't mean much to anyone else but immediately take you back to a particular person, place, or memory.

Those years helped shape us.

But Kappa doesn't have to exist only in a scrapbook.

There are new friendships to make, new traditions to celebrate, new ways to serve, and yes, plenty of opportunities to simply get together and have some fun.
